Solid Support by Trail Riders for Swan-Collie Project

03-Sep-2009

Despite a slow start, trail and quad riders have made a valuable contribution to the Swan-Collie Land Use Planning project commissioned by DEC.

At last count a total over 85 submissions had been made, with around 35 specific trail and quad bike trails proposed, and over 40 general areas. The four wheel drive fraternity has also gotten behind the project with around 70 four wheel drive trails proposed.

The next stage of this project will be the evaluation of these proposed trails and areas against various constraints including environmental (mainly Disease Risk Areas and Water Catchment), proximity to residential areas, conflict with other trails users and sustainability of terrain.

RTRA is represented on the project Steering Committee so members will be kept up to date as the project progresses.
