Response from DEC on Gnangara Enforcement Campaign

10-Feb-2010

Following complaints from members, and reports on our Ranger Contact Reports, RTRA wrote to the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) to express our concern at the action of police in turning away riders from the Gnangara and Pinjar Off Road Vehicle Areas simply because they did not have ORV Registration.

We have received a response from DEC that labelled the police action as 'regrettable' and confirmed that this was not DEC's intent. While stating that regular enforcement blitzes of the areas will continue, DEC has promised to review the manner in which these will be managed and has invited RTRA to meet with DEC management to discuss the issue.
