New Trail Counters to Provide Better Data

02-Feb-2014

The RTRA has taken delivery of three new trail counters in order to provide better data about trail usage.  The TRAFx Trail Counter can be specifically configured to track trail and quad bikes and date and time-stamps each record.  This means we will also be able to overlay weather conditions to see the impact that rain or heat has on riding as well as the weekday / weekend split and influence of school holidays.

The data collected will help us to assess durability of trails and predict maintenance requirements, as well as assisting in the process of securing grant funding for additional trail development.

We are grateful to Lotterywest for providing the funding for the new counters.
