Minister Tours Gnangara, Pinjar

28-Jul-2011

The Minister for Sport and Recreation, Terry Waldron, visited the Gnangara Off Road Area today at the invitation of the RTRA to get a first hand look at the condition of the place.

Minister Waldron was accompanied by MPs Tony Simpson and Paul Miles as well as senior executives from DEC and DSR.  The RTRA has been maintaining constant pressure on the Minister to push through Cabinet approval for funding of the State Trail Bike Strategy and Minister Waldron is very supportive of the need to invest in facilities for trail and quad bike riders.

The contrast between the Gnangara and Pinjar areas was amply evident, and all visitors were impressed with the initial planning and development work that is underway at Pinjar.

We are hoping that the first hand look at the issues will help generate some short term funding for interim trails development at Gnangara so that users of this area have better, safer options while we wait for more significant funding for a major redevelopment.
