Friends of Pinjar Group - Recruiting Now!

Information Day - Sunday May 27 10am @ Pinjar

Love riding at Pinjar, or have kids that do? Appreciate that this is a free area available designed for trail bikes and quads to ride? Then help us look after this valuable riding area and give us some of your time.

The RTRA is pleased to announce the official launch of the Friends of Pinjar, a group of trained registered volunteers working together with the RTRA and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) to look after the Pinjar Off-road vehicle area. We are actively seeking individuals to join up!

As a volunteer with the Friends of Pinjar you would be the eyes and ears, arms and legs helping to monitor and maintain Pinjar as a safe and great place to ride.

Our Pinjar volunteers ride the trails to identify, fix or report hazards such as missing signage, downed trees or trail sections in need of maintenance. You would also meet and greet riders, helping them to understand the area’s layout, describe the trails to allow riders to decide the best trails to ride for their experience, acceptable behaviour and how to get the most out of their visit. The friends of Pinjar will also work with DBCA to arrange maintenance days to keep the trails in good condition.

Enforcement is NOT a function of the Friends of Pinjar Group and are not expected to get involved in any difficult or risky situations.

A mandatory training session is provided for anyone wanting to join up who meets these criteria:
  • Over the age of 16 years (a junior program for 13-16 year olds will be considered in the future)
  • You will abide by the Friends of Pinjar Code of Conduct
  • You don’t have to be a rider to volunteer, all visitors to Pinjar can assist in protecting and maintaining the area
  • Your vehicle is either ORV or road registered
  • Thorough knowledge of the Pinjar ORV area - will be provided in training
  • Complete the Friends of Pinjar training day
  • Have your “Working with Children” check (can be organised for you)
Pinjar ORV area is free to ride, but there are limited funds to keeping it maintained and to develop and keep improving the area. So we need riders to pitch in and help out. The RTRA is committed to ensuring your volunteer experience will be a pleasant and enjoyable one.

So, if you have some spare time and want to put your skills, energy and passion to work, register your interest in the form below and we will be in touch!

The RTRA thanks the City of Wanneroo and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions for their support in enabling the Friends of Pinjar.
