Gnangara Off Road Vehicle Area
Gnangara is one of Perth's largest and most utilised off-road vehicle areas. The RTRA has been working with the Department of Environment and Conservation with the goal of improving the trail development, maintenance and management of the area so that it provides a more satisfying riding experience.
Current status -
- the Department of Environment and Conservation have endorsed Management Guidelines for the area. This plan recommends the development of a series of zones and one way trail networks, proper delineation of the area and facilities. The Department is reviewing funding options.
- currently the area is busy, unmanaged, no delineation of area boundaries and terrain is sandy and difficult for small wheeled bikes.
Future Projects:
Once DEC receives funding and commences re-development, RTRA will be seeking interest from members to form a "Friends of Gnangara ORVA" to assist with volunteer management and maintenance of the area.

RTRA POSITION
Gnangara has the potential to be an excellent off-road vehicle area but 30 years of neglect has caused serious issues and made it an unattractive area for trail bike riders. We support DEC's plans to re-develop the area and urge the Government to invest in creating a true "Trail bike park". RTRA will then assist by supporting and managing a volunteer "Friends of Gnangara" group.
